Text Box: 50th Anniversary of School
The Baleares International School was founded 50 years ago in 1957 by Mrs. Sarah – Lane Wise ostensibly for her two teenage daughters, but also for the children of a few friends who did not want them to go to the - then - very restrictive Spanish school (for girls this meant nuns, full habit etc). The school was established in a flat in Terreno and then moved to Villa Barracca.
It grew quite quickly and soon it out grew Barracca, so she took some classrooms at the Salvation Army in Cala Mallor, and painted the name on their wall. As time passed, school again required larger premises and in either 1972 or 1973 she came across the present property and the rest is history!

The month of September appears to have disappeared in a flash and I am happy to report that everything has settled down at school and new procedures are working well.
It has not been the easiest of beginnings due to staff shortages both in the main school and the office. However, I am happy to announce the arrival of Mrs. Rebecca Bellafont-Evans, my new Registrar.
Becky took up her appointment on Wednesday of last week and has, in the short space of time already begun to streamline the Office and improve efficiency.
She will be your first point of contact at all times for matters regarding your son/daughter and any query you may have regarding school.
I am very much looking forward to working with her and am confident that the Administration Department will begin in a short time to run like a well oiled machine.
The Office structure is as follows;
Receptionist: Luisa Godwin
Registrar and P.A.: Becky Bellafont-Evans
Bursar: Zanetta Kennedy
