As part of the ongoing celebration of our 60 years, Baleares International College was honoured to have Mr. Sandy Mitchell, husband of the late Glynis Mitchell accept the schools invitation to formally open 'The BIC Memorial Garden'. The garden is in remembrance of Glynis Mitchell, Principal of BIC from 2006-2012 as well as Andrew Beckett and Alberto Fernandez; support staff at the school. The morning coincided with the Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning. Many thanks to all who contributed to making this a very special event in the school calendar.

Every year, the Diario de Mallorca publishes its acclaimed educational supplement. Last Saturday, the 2017 edition hit the newsstands and BIC was proud to feature alongside other leading establishments on the islands. Special mention was made of our landmark celebration; 60 years of BIC.

The school Principal hosted a barbeque for staff and their families on Sunday 17th September. After a couple of days of heavy rain, the skies opened - as did a few bottles and colleagues from Primary, Secondary and Sant Agusti convened at the pool in Sa Porrassa to enjoy home made delights, burgers, buns, hot dogs and kebabs! Thank you to all who made the afternoon as enjoyable as it was and especially Juan who was excellent on the coals!

Baleares International College was proud to host a visit from Mrs Diane Doherty. As part of our continuing efforts to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the school, the school will welcome visits from the schools former Principals. Mrs Doherty was the fifth Principal at BIC from 2013 to 2015.

Mrs Doherty enjoyed seeing the many changes the school has gone through; the new classrooms, uniform, gardens as well as reminiscing with familiar faces. An opportunity to share best practise within the school was had with current Principal Duncan Giles who shared exam results and how GL Assessments are used to inform planning across the Key Stages. A wonderful visit, we thank Diane for taking the time to come visit and look forward to future visits from other key members of our school community.

The start of a new academic year is always an exciting event and the 2017-18 year is no different. BIC celebrates its 60th Anniversary and we hope to have a number of activities planned to celebrate this landmark year. Students arrived to school on Tuesday in their new uniforms and looked very smart indeed. A whole assembly was led by the Principal with guest speaker George Pena of the Leo's, the new charity group to be based at the school. An exciting year ahead for all.....

On Monday 4th September, the BIC welcomed all new students to the school. The new 'Balearians' and their parents were invited to meet their class and form tutors in an effort to ease transition into the new academic year. After a brief presentation from the Principal, students from Reception to Year 13 spent the morning touring the site and meeting key staff. We hope the event was a success and that the new arrivals feel very much at home in their new school.
