This week we stepped into the realm of the Chromebooks! The children learnt how to create and manipulate a Doc (Word Substitute). They were thrilled to learn that they had their own email address that enabled them to share their work with others in the class and their teacher who could make comments before sending it back. We look forward to using it more often to present work and share what we can do.

Dolphins Class (Year 3) have decided to practice their reading skills by reading a book to the Seahorses (Reception) each week. They are loving the interest the younger children take in the stories - much better than adults!

This term, Orcas (Year 3,4 and 5) are learning about rainforests. They studied pictures of the deluges that some rainforests get and created pictures using strips of crepe and tissue paper with some beautiful results.

The Seahorses have been revising the spanish alphabet this week using labeled clothes pegs to write their names and the days of the week in Spanish.

This week the Starfish Class have been talking about "People who Help Us". The children really enjoyed pretending to be Fire men, Police Oficers and Doctors. They have also been doing some lovely art activities.

Nativity Performance

We are all very proud of our children for their lovely retelling of the Nativity Story. There was the usual array of Angels, Shepherds, Innkeepers, Kings alongside Mary and Joseph. With some super singing and instrument playing followed by mince pies and mulled wine the Nativity has heralded that the festive season is well and truly upon us.

Seals Crafts

In Seals Class we have been making clay owls. We had to follow the instructions carefully and used a variety of everyday objects to make the feathers, eyes, beak and ears. We enjoyed smoothing the clay with water and shaping it to make our individual owls. We are looking forward to painting them and adding ribbon to make some christmas tree decorations.

Egyptian Day

On 4th December the Whales and Dolphins dressed up as Ancient Egyptians and came to school for an action packed day of activities. They learnt to make bread the way the Ancient Egyptians used to, created their own jewellery and even had a mummy wrapping contest! A fun ending to a topic that was enjoyed by all.

Christmas Crafts and Carols

For 4 weeks leading up to Christmas, KS1 and 2 classes had the opportunity to get really festive in an extra-curricular club. The chaos reigned with Sock Snowmen, Glitter bottles and beautiful pop-up Christmas Cards as well as some very sticky seasonal treats!

Es Castell Family BBQ

We had a fabulous family Picnic/ BBQ at Finca Es Castell. I was delighted to see so many of our families enjoying the wonderful setting and gorgeous weather. I am very grateful to James and Paola for their hospitality and for organising our woodland safari walk.

Harvest Donation

After our successful Harvest festival we were delighted that the Salvation Army were able to collect all of the food that had kindly been donated by our parents and families. The salvation Army were thrilled and very grateful to receive the food and will be using it to feed the homeless on the Island.

Aquarium Visit

On Thursday November 6th we had our first school trip to Palma Aquarium. The excitement began with the journey on a double-decker bus! Although many of our children have been to the Aquarium before there is always something new and exciting to see and learn. The monitors also ensure that the information given is up to date and relevant.

As always one of the most popular areas was the shark tank! We also met Julia a rescued turtle learning to swim with three flippers and watched as divers cleaned a variety of tanks.

Harvest Assembly

It was a wonderful Harvest assembly and we were all proud of the confidence in which are children sang and told their stories and rhymes. We are very grateful for the huge collection of food that was given and has now been sent to a local charity. The donations for the cakes, provided by parents made a staggering 142euros which will be sent to Save the Children charity. So a very big thank-you to all our parents for their support.

This week the Seahorses have been working hard learning the words and actions to the songs they will be performing at the harvest Festival.

Due to its success we are hoping to organise further sailing next Summer term.
