Once again we support the worldwide Poppy Appeal, recognising the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces community, past and present.

Our charity committee members have been spreading the word and educating our Primary children on the cause whilst gathering donations across the school.

Donations can be made at the school office where poppies are available.

Last Tuesday our Year 3 enjoyed an exciting and educational field trip to the north of the island to visit the Natural Park of S'Albufera. The name derives from the Arabic for 'lagoon', but the site has been visited since Roman times.

We were fortunate enough to see a multitude of beautiful birds such as Coots, Herons, Stilts and even a magnificent Osprey. The children loved to be surrounded by nature and especially appreciated seeing so many birds close up with binoculars in the hides around the marsh land. An extremely fun day for the children, parent helpers and teachers!

Its Halloween at BIC and the Halloween Disco on Thursday Night and the Freaky Friday today allowed for a collection of ghosts, ghouls and goblins to surface. Vampires, Skeletons, Devils, a assorted mix of ghastly creatures roamed the corridors of BIC! There was even a very sinister Child Catcher!

All proceeds from the Halloween Disco went towards the JoyRon Foundation and the building of the children's cinema at the Son Espases Hospital. JoyRon founder Ronald M. Hawes kindly attended the disco.

BIC was happy to welcome the newest member of its teaching staff today. Mr Anthony Gray will join the school in January as Business Studies teacher and spent the morning meeting students and delivering workshops to his future students.

'Mr Gray is amazing, he explains everything so clearly. I can't wait for him to start'. Year 13 student, Yash Gandhi

Mr Gray arrives from the prestigious 'The Cherwell School' in Oxford. As Faculty Leader for Economics, Business and Enterprise, Mr Gray will lead all Business Studies teaching as from Year 10.

A published author for the Hodder & Stoughton Business Studies textbook and Chief Examiner for Economics with EDEXCEL, Mr Gray’ s interests extend beyond the classroom; he is a qualified L2 British Cycling coach and former parliamentary candidate.

We look forward to Mr Gray’s arrival in January and the introduction of A Level Economics next year. The school will also be exploring opportunities to establish a competitive cycling club at the school. Please join us in wishing him and his family a very warm welcome to the school and the island. We are confident as to the positive impact Anthony Gray will have across all BIC.

BIC sa Porrassa were proud hosts to Year 6 students from our sister school in Sant Agusti. As families consider options for Secondary schooling, these students may well choose to continue their schooling at BIC. They were able to experience a little of what being in Year 7 would be like and met the Principal Mr Giles as well as the Head of Secondary Mr Bennett. Students also enjoyed two taster lessons. In the IT suite there were geographical challenges from Mr Green and in the Science Lab exploding jelly babies from Mr Cadman!! Many thanks to Mrs Millar and all the staff and families who made the day a success.

The school organised a 'Meet and Greet' evening for new and existing families at BIC last night. The event allowed for parents to put a face to a name and also get to know one another away from the school gate and the demands of pick-up and drop-off. Our thanks to all who attended this lovely event and especially the efforts of Pepi, the school cook and Juan who made sure all ran smoothly.

In PSHE this week 3V were talking about how important kind and positive comments are to one another. We always talk about how we must believe in ourselves and wanted to build confidence by playing a fun game. We all enjoyed writing encouraging and thoughtful comments on the back of our classmates that we may be too shy to say to their face.
As a result the children were delighted to read their comments in a class circle and see how much love and support they share from all their class companions.

In the spirit of good neighbourly relations we are happy to support Biel and Maria as they take on the old Bar Particular; a favourite of students, staff and parents. Both will bring their own identify and the same attention to detail that has made the supermarket such a success. Come join us for a glass of cava from 15:30.
